6 bowls in the natural wood from Grapat.

The 6 bowls in natural wood finished in natural waxes, which brings balance and great sense of aesthetics to the children’s game and, consequently, a great sensitivity to beauty.

The bowls complement the heuristic game with actions such as filling up and emptying out, going through and loading, etc. A bowl can be used to cover another bowl and, in that way, its content can be hidden or made to disappear. This game brings both pleasure and distress: the disappearance, the lost and found of the self and of our own treasures.

The drawing of the vein, its nuances and touches, its own characteristics. Each piece that passes through your hands is unique, each one is painted by hand. We understand the “imperfections” of wood as characteristics that make each piece unique. It is beautiful and makes the material even more valuable..

Grapat is a small family project that materialized from leaving the city to live in a natural environment. However, the idea began to grow within them many years ago, during the first 3 years of their eldest daughter. She has almost had no toys and that has led them to consider on the need for children to have them. They have done an internal work of conscience to allow her to use everyday objects, they have opened kitchen closets, they have allowed the books to become roads, the scarves transform into huts and roads.

It is inspiring to see children playing, the game has something sacred, like a parallel world-like meditation that is governed by its own rules and time. The game in children is like an earthquake that can not be stopped, however much we adults try with all our strength. Free play, loose parts, open and unstructured material startle us daily because it transforms into what they decide and which are the fruit of their internal need. We propose a material without instructions, the only premise is to let do, without time, slowly. A material that incites, invites, causes the creation of diverse worlds, fantastic, realistic, invented …

Welcome to Grapat, and happy game!
